Tips
& Advice When Considering Wearing a Tiara – or Not..?

Think
about your total look first
Before
deciding on anything, think about what kind of wedding you are having,
is it a civil ceremony, a church wedding or something more unusual?
Imagine yourself as a bride (not always easy is it?!) - are you looking
for a traditional look, white/ivory dress and veil, or perhaps something
straight and elegant with a flower in your hair or it may be sexy and
untraditional in red or even black or wild and crazy. It helps to have a
rough idea of the total look.
*
Get your dress first!
The
whole outfit will start with the dress, once you know what your dress
looks like then you can start to add your accessories. It
may be that you don't need or want a tiara – for most brides putting a
tiara on feels a little strange, it’s the same with the dress, its not
something you do everyday.
*
Veils?
Think
about a veil too, often brides are put off wearing a veil as it feels
quite old fashioned or perhaps a little bit too traditional but you
should at least try it, if only to rule it out. A carefully chosen veil
(the right colour, length, shape and positioning) of a veil can transform the whole look
and by adding a tiara, comb, pins or flowers you can finish the whole
ensemble beautifully. If you are
wearing a veil, think about what happens when you take it off (often at
the reception) You will want ‘balance’ to your outfit and should
think about what you wear in your hair after the veil has been taken
off.
*
Jewellery?
Consider
your jewelry. Too much of everything can be over the top! You may want
to try and match your jewelry to your dress or tiara (or both). If your
tiara is quite a statement, you may want to tone down your jewelry and
keep it simple or you may have some great jewelry and you want to tone
down the tiara.
*
Think about your hair
If
you have long hair - will you wear it up or down or both? Some tiara
styles work best when there is a lot of hair and some tiaras will just
get lost. Short hair too, can look amazing with a carefully chosen
piece. Think about the height too, how tall are you and how tall is your
partner? You don't want to tower above them. The shape is important too
and it may be that a comb would be best. Combs are very versatile and
can be placed anywhere on your head, front side or at the rear – pins
work well in long hair too, perhaps at the back pushed into a plait or a
bun?

TRY SOME TIARAS ON!
Just
like the dress (no doubt your dream dress is nothing like you thought it
would be) well the tiara is the same, they look great in a glass case or
on a website but may look awful when you try them on and vice versa.
Experiment with lots of different styles first, even if you do want to
purchase a tiara on line, go into the bridal shops first and try them on
– it will give you an idea of what suits your face. It will also help
you to picture your dream tiara.
*
Consider a bespoke design
They
can be a lot cheaper than you think! If you really cannot find what you
are looking for then why not have it made, that way you can tailor it to
suit your dress, match colours, design etc Here at my
three wishes tiaras, I offer a bespoke service where the
bride-to-be can visit and discuss their individual requirements face to
face, try on sample designs and design a tiara that compliments your
dress perfectly.
*
Comfort!
Whatever
you decide to do, whatever you wear on your wedding day, make sure its
comfortable! Whether it’s the dress, the shoes, your underwear, your
tiara – make sure that you feel fantastic as well as looking gorgeous
and that you can wear all of it -
all day - effortlessly. The
last thing you want is a tiara digging in to your head and giving you a
headache! Make sure that your tiara fits you properly and won’t slide
off your head either! If you are having a hair trial, take your tiara
along with you so that your hairdresser understands how you want to wear
it and you can practice.
*
Enjoy yourself!
Above
all, make sure you enjoy the whole process of putting your ensemble
together, it’s your chance to express yourself and then be the centre
of attention on your wedding day looking absolutely amazing! Good luck!
